Thermometer for sauna

Post by pekkak »

Is there a Tellstick compatible thermometer capable of measuring temperatures up to 100 degrees of Celsius? Other than Weber which is a little bit too expensive to leave permanently in the sauna and battery consumption may not be optimal for continuous usage either.

I just tried this one (I know, specs promise only up to 65 degrees):

but it only measured up to 55,5 degrees and also climbed there much slower than a cooking thermometer.

at least this is working great on my sauna with Tellstick.Net. It's UPM, product number is WS334. Sauna thermometer is WT1454, it should be working up to +140 degree. Humidity measurement is not working correctly.

I bought it from Finland, shop called Hong Kong, it's also available in Motonet http://www.motonet.fi/web/guest/etusivu ... id=49-2241

Great news! I'm actually from Espoo and I could go to Hongkong after work. What is UPM, the make (merkki) of the weather station? Can I buy the sauna sensor only?

Check first from Motonet (you can see their stock from web page), I don't know if this is still available in Hongkong as I bought my package two years ago.
You need to buy whole package (weather station + two thermometer + external sensor), I haven't see Sauna thermometer sold separately. I don't know real manufacturer for UPM, it's using Mandolyn protocol for communication.

Hi,

do you know if this should work "out-of-the-box" with Tellstick Net as well?

It can really make a big impact in our health. Many health and wellness professionals agree that heavy sweating in a sauna will help rid your body of harmful waste material.

Hmmm, I bought the same model (I think, though the packaging called it Prego; it had the same product code, and I bought it at Motonet).

Only one of the sensors show up, as a mandolyn temperature/humidity sensor (ttbomk none of the sensors even support humidity readings, but I guess it might be using a chipset that supports both), but the readings are totally wrong. My Tellstick keeps getting updates, but all readings show +11.2°C (which isn't close to either the sauna or outdoor temperature).

Any ideas?

Edit: I've had a closer look at the link you posted and it doesn't look the same as the model I bought. It might be that they've misplaced another model on the shelf for this model :S Checking the online status indicates that they don't have your model in Tampere, so I guess I'll have to order one. Or hope that there's a fix for it in the Tellstick software...

That prego don't work with telldus. It's have to be called esic. That work with telldus but motonet sell prego and esic with same number.

A week ago Motonet Vantaa in Finland only had Prego in the shelf. Hong Kong Vantaa had the UPM/ESIC weather station package with sauna sensor. The package was called "Saunamajuri" and price was about 42 euros including the sauna sensor, one normal outdoor sensor and the weather station.

Sensors are externally identical to Clas Ohlson 36-1797 but there are a few differences. You can set the house code but not the channel, they always transmit in channel 1 (outdoor sensor) and channel 2 (sauna sensor). LCD display shows "out" and "sauna" instead of channel number. Humidity measurement is not available, but temperature works fine with Tellstick Net.
