Telldus Live service running on personal local machine

Of course it's possible, c libraries and python wrapper to communicate with the tellstick already exists. Or you could just use an existing solution like tellprox that is built upon tellcore-py to present you with a json interface and build a better web front-end.

I have written an TellProx for that exact reason. It is available at https://github.com/p3tecracknell/tellprox
I have used it on Windows and a Raspberry Pi and attempting to keep it as cross platform as possible. I would be happy to help you walk through it as I would like to see if we can get it working another platform such as Synology NAS.

In appologize for the late response. Thank you for willing to help-I don't have much experience with Linux. I am willing to try this installation next week. Will this support events as well? I wish I have a possibility to have emails sent based on events, and telldus Live service seem pretty slick, except I wouldn't pay monthly just to have a few events fireing only now and then.

I have it running on my Rasbperry Pi. The instructions are on my GitHub page. In summary:
Install Tellstick core (http://elinux.org/R-Pi_Tellstick_core)
Install git, setuptools and python
Git clone the source
Run setup, then the command

it seems too complicated for me and the summary direction is the most evasive ever seen. I wish there would be a step by step tutorial. I am not familiar with linux and I dont understand any commands written in these prerequisites. I might give up ans rely on Live Telldus until there will be simpler to aproach options with some written installation tutorial all in one place.

The majority of the work is getting telldus-core installed on the Raspberry Pi, to which the instructions (http://elinux.org/R-Pi_Tellstick_core) are detailed. If you can't follow that, I would either read around the subject or stick to something else. I can try and help if you a specific problem.
