Delivery of Tellstick Duo

Post by plastbox »

Hello!

I recently (16th of January) ordered a Tellstick Duo from komplett.no, hoping against all hope that I'd finally get one. I even called them first, and they confirmed that they were expecting a shipment of 20 Tellstick Duos on the 22nd of January. Called them up again on the 22nd or 23rd and was told that the delivery date was pushed forward to today (the 28th), and when I spoke to them just now they told me they were expecting the afforementioned Duos on the 3rd of February and another 50 on the 5th.

After a bit of prodding though, they told me that they had not had the Duo in store for a long, looong time, if ever, and that the dates-of-delivery they operated with were specified by you; Telldus.

Could you please, please tell me when I can expect to get my Duo, if at all? I know you had some issues getting them produced, ergo my postponing ordering one 'til now. That was ages ago though, and you announced your collaboration with Proove roughly 4 months ago.

Is it really still impossible to get hold of a Tellstick Duo? :(

Just submitted a ticket asking for information on the Duo, with links to this thread as well as one other fairly recent one asking the same thing. Hopefully, the people responsible for this awesome product will take the time to answer. If not, my Arduino coupled with a $10 433.92 MHz transceiver will do the trick as well as anything else. I already have in place code to pick up and play back IR-signals. Doing the same with RF should be just as easy, perhaps even simpler, considering I don't even have to generate a carrier frequency.

It won't look as nice though.. *sigh*

Edit: On that note.. Does anyone have links to somewhere where I can buy a transmitter and receiver (either separately or as a transceiver) for 433.92 MHz? You know, the type where the transmitter turns RF on when it's DATA-IN pin is pulled high, and the receiver's DATA-OUT pin reflects whether there is an RF signal present. I vaguely remember Sparkfun having all three, but I can't seem to find them.

The best modules to my experience are the ones from Aurel (check out SOS Electronics, search for 'Aurel' and you get a lot of stuff)

Check the things I built earlier using those modules

They have answered now. "We BELIEVE that it will be in Q2 and're unable to come up with something more specific than that."

Thanks, but I ended up going with receiver and transmitter from dealextreme.com. Ludicrously low prices and free shipping. The only downside is that shipping takes around one month. Still worth it though, when three 433MHz transmitters, three receivers and three 38KHz modulated IR-transmitters came in at just below $22 (119 NOK, 138 SEK).
