The PCR800 from Oregon is compatible with Tellstick Net. You get two values, total rain and rain per hour.

What i lack is a better presentation in Telldus Live or Remotestick, you cant get a graph of how much it rained last week for example as it is right now.

The inputs of the Nexa two channel transmitter WBT-912 can detect the small current passing through water.
So I guess it would be possible to build your own rain sensor by using this transmitter and connect the inputs to a prototype board (Vero board type).
Rain drops across the PCB strips activates the transmitter.

Or use a ready made detector and connect the transmitter to the relay output.
