Hello!
Few questions about Tellstick that I couldn't quite understand from the site:
1. Does Tellstick Net only work with Telldus Live, meaning that if for whatever reason the service wouldn't be available, I can't control my devices (or even manage them)?
I would rather have the device be independent of any 3rd party service. I get that Telldus want's to make Tellstick easy to use for those who don't know how to configure port forwarding etc. but it should be voluntary.
2. Does Telldus Live work with Tellstick and Tellstick Duo as well?
3. What kind of automation can I configure in Telldus Live (look below)? Demo account would be nice.
4. Have I understood this right: TelldusCenter doesn't automate anything. Telldus Scheduler schedules things. If I want events based on other inputs than time (ie temperature sensor), I'll have to use 3rd party automation software?
Any and all help is appreciated.

Few short answers:
1. Yes, if you want it to work without live.telldus.com there is firmware for this, or you can forward it from your router - but it requires some work on your side. so far the uptime of live has been GREAT for me.
2. As far as I know it works with Duo - but Duo does not read humidity (why? I do not know) and needs to be plugged into a computer to work. On the other hand Duo works with TellstickCenter (TelldusCenter?)... Do not know how that works since I never used it.
3. On/Off depending on time (as far as I know that is all)... There are existing 3rd party solutions that can do more (I do not use them, read this forum and you will find one (templight.se) there is also switchking.???...there must be tons of others (perhaps some free)... one can write your own... dico did a GREAT job with fuTelldus, that can "easily" be expanded to include more advanced automation...
4. For now I THINK that is correct... live! might get better though... on the other hand that would also require a lot of extra computing for the live servers, so I understand why this is not there yet... I would love to see the live! code open so I can install it locally and let my tellstick speak to my own server, then we could all write plugins etc. for the live-server run locally if needed or even for the "real" live server... but that is just dreams at this stage...
The 3rd party software could for example be RemoteStick (Google Play) combined with eg. Tasker (Google Play) and you can do pretty much anything... or switchking, or fuTelldus (if it is extended)... or... well the possibilities are ENDLESS!
Hope this helped.

Re: Few questions
Thanks for the answers. About #1: is this firmware you speak of officially from Telldus? Can you provide a link? You also said "or you can forward it from your router" - are you saying I wont have to install the firmware? What is the difference with these approaches?

In principle you would not have to install the firmware - then (as fas as I understand) you would need a webserver that can act as the Live! server does, which should (in principle) be easy to write, as long as you know how Live! and the Tellstick NET commnicates, and I am quite sure that this is possible to find in http://developer.telldus.se/... one would "only" have to write something similar to Live!
Good luck!
