After rmmod you have to at least restart telldusd to make it work, as you did when it worked.
When you reattach the USB-UIRT ftdi_sio is probably loaded again, that's why TellStick don't work. It may be possible to experiment with plug in-order/start order to make it all work. For example, if TellStick is plugged in and working (by rmmod ftdi_sio first), maybe you can attach the USB-UIRT afterwards, without ftdi_sio grabbing the TellStick.
This problem will not appear with TellStick Duo, but that is of course no comfort for you. We will create a workaround for TellStick too, but it will not happen in the immediate future.
