Anyone can help me please ? It is an issue of the version 2.1.0 or ubuntu 11.10 ?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Re: Tellstick not found
Hi,
In my installation (on Fedora 15), there is a symbolic link called "tellstick" at /dev -directory, which points to the physical device:
ls -l /dev/tellstick
----8<----
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 Oct 16 10:24 tellstick -> ttyUSB0
----8<----
Check that you have that. I had to tweak some udev-settings (on 2.0.4) for the link to appear.

Same problem when I upgraded telldus-core from 2.0.3 to 2.1 on my laptop running Ubuntu 11.04 Natty.

Re: Tellstick not found
Back to 2.0.4, and now it works.
Re: Tellstick not found
I am having the same issue on Ubuntu 10.10 since updating telldus-core to 2.1.0.
I added telldus as a repo so just did a apt-get update/upgrade and got stuck with the "Error communicating" message as in previous posts.
Whats the best way to downgrade?
On a side note my tellstick does actually send signals despite returning an error code. Also unplugging the tellstick and plugging it back in clears any errors I'm having. Not really a proper solution though!

Re: Tellstick not found
I downgraded by building 2.0.4 from the source distribution. Had to change something in the CMake configuration for rfcmd to make it link against libpthread in stead of librt for sem_init/sem_wait/etc.

Re: Tellstick not found
It's actually a few different problems, errors and misconceptions that are discussed here.
First of all, since 2.1.0 it's normal that a disconnect-message appear in the logs. It means that the new service (telldusd) has taken command over it. /dev/tellstick should not be used at all anymore, and the TellStick should not show up as /dev/ttyUSB*.
Rfcmd has been dropped in 2.1.0 (it's been a long time coming). Tdtool, that's included in telldus-core, should be used instead.
The problem with "An error occurred while communicating with TellStick" occurs when a command is sent to TellStick, but the service doesn't get a response back from TellStick. This is normal with older batches (1-4) where this communication sometimes doesn't work. Why it seems to happens to newer TellStick too, we don't know, we are looking into it. If anyone can notice a pattern when it occurs, please let us know. The actual command is executed anyway, but it may take some time until it returns, since it waits for confirmation from TellStick. We will implement a workaround so that the service can be instructed to ignore the response and just assume that the command went through (as it did before).
If you get the TellStick Not Found-error, do you have any other USB-devices using the FTDI-chip? If you have other devices, and are having issues, you may have to downgrade to 2.0.4, we'll put these back up in the repository for the ones that have to downgrade. Testing different startup order, for example adding the tdi_sio after TellStick has been connected and picked up by the service, may also solve it, at least temporarily.

Re: Tellstick not found
Telldus-core 2.0.4 is back in the repositories ("http://download.telldus.com/debian/ 2.0 main", in addition to stable and unstable) for those who wants to downgrade. Tellstick.conf is quite different in 2.0.4 compared to 2.1.0, so it's probably best to replace it completely.

Can you put it ?
Thanks

Re: Tellstick not found
I got this problem to, but on ArchLinux...
Tried several versions, do you need to reboot between changing versions?
Running 3.0 kernel and telldus-core-2.0.4 as stated before did not help.
Anyone got any clue's to fix this?

I downgraded to 2.0.4-2. Problem is that I get a Could not connect to the Telldus Service.
/etc/telldus.conf is OK and there's a /dev/tellstick device in place.
I'm on Kubuntu 10.04 on x86, 32 bit.
Kernel 2.6.32-35-generic
Any clues?

Re: Tellstick not found
We started supporting ARM in version 2.1. For 2.0 you have to compile yourself.franck wrote:There is no ARM version into the 2.0 repository.
There is no service in 2.0 so your downgrade doesn't look like it were successful. Please check the version of package libtellduscore2.JoakimL wrote:I downgraded to 2.0.4-2. Problem is that I get a Could not connect to the Telldus Service.
