Telldus-core demo device?

Hi
Is it possible to configure telldus-core to be able to work with devices without a tellstick usb connected?
The computer i'm developing on doesn't have the usb device. It's a virtual linuxbox.
It works listing, but sending commands crashes telldus-core.
Can perhaps a parameter be set in tellstick.conf telling it to only update local db about device and not aend to usb?
