Post by etka »

hello
is it possible to have more then one tellstick usb, duo in a lan ?
because one stick cant reach every floor
so that they are perhaps in the same telldus live center or in different telldus live centers ?
the Lan has only one internet provider wan ip adress.
one or several lan computers with usb or usb extension.
and will telldus center send the light on or off command to each off several usb sticks perhaps at a server or computer
with 2 sticks

Hi,
If each TellStick Duo is connected to different computers running TelldusCenter, you can connect each TelldusCenter to the same Telldus Live! account. A device configured in one TelldusCenter will not be available in the others.

At the moment, TelldusCenter only supports one connected TellStick at a time.

Since you can separate two servers in a LAN using port 80 by assigning them different external ports, the same can be done with the Tellstick...

I use a Tellstick in a Dovado UMR router set up only for this purpose. So the WAN side of the router has a LAN address. The main router that links the LAN to the internet is a Dlink 2740. I've set up port forwarding in the Dlink and can manage the tellstick from the internet or with intralan wifi with the Dovado Tellstick iphone/ipad app and also the DovTelCon web application, which can be made to represent as an iphone app icon.

I'm thinking of inserting a second Dovado UMR (or 4GR) router to support a second Tellstick. By assigning different external ports for port forwarding in the Dlink router it should be possible to differentiate the Tellsticks. The internal port 6435 remains the same for both tellsticks but they are separated by the ip addresses for the Dovado routers- just as if you had two computers running). The Dovado or Dovtelcon apps can't AFAIK run two different tellsticks, but you can use Dovado for one and DovTelCon for the other.

So instead of running two computers you can use two cheap second hand Dovado UMR routers. The setup of the Tellstick, learning codes etc. is done through the applied software in the Dovado router. The firmware might have to be updated but that is easily done.
