tellstick not found message

Hi,

I just received a tellstick from one of the uk distributors and..

Download the software and installed it (MAC OSX Snow leopard Mac OS X 10.6.6 on macbook pro)

plugged in the tellstick

connected the gear

and added a device (Home easy wall plug adapter from b and q).

When I try to turn on or off the socket for the telldus software, the message 'tellstick not found appears'

is there any feedback to show that the tellstick is connected correctly to the Telldus software centre ? i.e. does the light bulb turn green? Also the stick does show up in my usb device tree, so my mac knows its there. Is there any commands to run in terminal to get some feedback as to what is happening, as the error is so generic ?

Data below.

Are you using any other FTDI based products? Such as Arduino, usb-to-serial adapter or similar?

Yes Micke, I use arduino with MAX/MSP and Processing / JAVA.

I tested the tellstick on Parallels running win xp and the unit works fine, its seems to be FTDI problem.

Thanks

Liam

Micke,

I removed the FDTI driver in /System/Library/Extensions/FTDIUSBSerialDriver.kext
and reinstalled Telldus software software this solved the problem. But I need to use both the Tellstick and Arduino/serial related products, is there a solution for this ?

Thanks

Liam

No, unfortunately the FTDI driver "locks" our device. We have not found anyway to release it from TelldusCenter. The only solution so far is to unload the driver.

To do so, read here:

I just bought a tellstick and had the same problem.
Solved it by unloading the FTID-driver according to your suggestion (the link above).
Now, it is some years since you posted this and I guess you've there has been some thinking going on; so is there any other solution yet?
I'm also using the Arduino and was actually planning to have a go with both the tellstick and the Arduino together.

Yours, Amit
